About The Position

The Equipment Operator I classification is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker position based on the operation of various types of non-CDL equipment on a routine basis. The skills and knowledge required are of a level and scope to be in support of a journey, trades or crafts person. Some positions will require the performance of other essential and marginal functions depending on the location, assignment or shift. Employees in this class operate vehicles that do not require a Commercial Driver’s License such as trucks, farm tractors, zero and turn mowers. Equipment Operator Is receive training on various pieces of CDL required equipment for future advancement to the Equipment Operator II classification.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of experience as a laborer assisting in general trades using hand-tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Skill to read slightly complex material such as operator manuals.
  • Perform simple arithmetic.
  • Complete slightly complex forms.
  • Use tools and equipment.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to provide documentation of identity and employment eligibility in order to comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

Nice To Haves

  • Operate equipment requiring a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for training purposes.
