About The Position

City of Edinburg in Edinburg, TX is actively seeking a dedicated Equipment Operator I to operate a variety of light to heavy equipment involved in construction, hauling, industrial service and maintenance projects. This equipment operator position earns competitive pay of $15.05/hr. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year experience in operating light equipment
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attentive to detail
  • Dependability

Nice To Haves

  • Community college, vocational, business, technical, or correspondence school certifications
  • Related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two (2) years of comparable experience
  • Class "C" required or a Class "B" License w/ Air Brake Endorsement Preferred
  • Bilingual English/ Spanish preferred
  • Enjoy working as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of light to heavy equipment involved in construction, hauling, industrial service and maintenance projects.
  • Coordinate the maintenance and operation of city equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Perform maintenance on designated streets, utility systems, landfills, and provide trash & debris collections services for residents.
  • Safely follow city policies and procedures.
  • Respond to emergency situations such as floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, accidents, and hazardous material spills.
  • Fill out daily reports and other forms for machinery use, service requests, and inventory control.
  • Ensure equipment is safe to use by performing preventative maintenance inspections and proper minor repairs.
  • Provide assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.
