About The Position

The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating all equipment at the Veteran Cemetery for the interments and the maintenance of the cemetery.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent
• One year of related experience.
• Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
• Skill in operation of listed equipment.
• Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used to perform burials of caskets and urns.
• General knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member to complete daily activities in accordance with work schedule.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the visitors of the cemetery.
• Must have a valid Texas driver's license within sixty (60) days of hire.
• Must have a valid driver's license by date of hire.

Nice To Haves

• A Veteran of any branch of military service; preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license.
• Able to drive and take care of all cemetery equipment.
• Install and realign headstones.
• Assist at the cemetery shelter to unload and reload caskets and urns.
• Transport caskets and urns to the final resting place and follows the Veterans Administration and Texas Veterans Land Board regulations for burials in the cemetery.
• Ensures new gravesites are leveled appropriately and in compliance with the National Cemetery Association.
• Assist in all areas of the burial process and maintenance of the Veterans Cemetery.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
