About The Position

Responsible for performing skilled work in the operation of various types of heavy-duty equipment used in material handling, mowing, and road maintenance in accordance with Jackson County policies and procedures. The position operates gasoline- or diesel-powered machinery for material handling, bridge construction, earth moving, excavating, grading, and road construction or maintenance. It also includes performing manual labor as needed and checking equipment condition and making minor operating repairs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience operating gasoline- or diesel-powered heavy-duty equipment.
• Valid Mississippi Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Operate gasoline- or diesel-powered machinery used in material handling, bridge construction, earth moving, excavating, grading, and road construction or maintenance.
• Operate end loaders and bush hogs (long arm, side and short arm only).
• Operate other assigned equipment as required.
• Perform manual labor duties when needed.
• Check the mechanical condition of equipment and make minor operating repairs on machinery and equipment.
