About The Position
The City of Staunton’s Public Works Department is seeking an Equipment Operator I to join its team in the Utilities Division. Successful candidate safely operates light and medium duty equipment in the construction, repair and maintenance of City water and sewer lines. Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, utility truck, dump truck, air compressor and hand/power tools. Requires considerable manual labor in the repair and maintenance of water and sewer lines at all times of day, in all weather conditions. Services and makes minor repairs to equipment.
Requirements
- VA Class A CDL license with tanker endorsement and good driving record required.
- Ability to follow instructions, problem solve, work and think both independently and effectively in a team environment is required.
- Ability to perform after-hours standby duty on a rotational basis required.
Nice To Haves
- Operational knowledge of backhoe, sewer and water lines preferred.
