This is a safety-sensitive position responsible for operating and maintaining various types of equipment, including tractor mowers, herbicide spray equipment, backhoe, single-axle dump truck, and water truck. The role involves maintaining District property such as waterways, canals, laterals, ditches, and rights-of-way by mowing and spraying weeds. Additionally, the position will operate equipment for backfill, dust control, and loading materials. The Equipment Operator is responsible for routine maintenance of equipment, including fueling and lubrication, and reporting major repairs to the Maintenance Foreman. This role also requires preparing regular reports on operational data, ensuring proper equipment use, and coordinating equipment movement. Assisting with herbicide spraying, turnout installation/repair, excavating, backfilling, and leveling earth materials are also key duties. Compliance with safety rules, department policies, and attendance during scheduled shifts are mandatory. This list of duties is illustrative and not all-inclusive.
