About The Position

Assumes responsibility for collection of solid waste and recyclables on campus using trucks, tractors, back-hoes, and other equipment; operates front and rear load trash trucks, skid steer, and dump truck to remove solid waste, recyclables, litter, and bulk trash on campus; loads open top boxes with skid steer; places front-load dumpsters at various campus sites; trains other employees on the operation of rear and front load trucks and on safety procedures; assists with assembling front-load trash dumpsters; may serve as team leader in the absence of supervisor, may supervise student staff or temporary workers; may place and remove containers for special events; serves as liaison with customers; consults with manager regarding daily trash or recycling route for maximum efficiency; completes route sheets; performs other duties as assigned. Works 3:00 AM to 11:30 AM, Monday through Friday but hours, days, and/or location are subject to change based on operational need in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement; may work overtime; subject to 24 hour emergency call. Will require successful completion of a criminal background check.

Requirements

• 7th grade plus 600 hours training or six (6) months of experience in operation and maintenance of heavy equipment
• Valid Ohio Class B Commercial Driver License

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) to four (4) years of commercial front load truck operation experience
• Experience operating recycling and refuse equipment
• Experience using tablets to log hours and route data

Responsibilities

Benefits

• The target hiring range for this job profile is $24.25-$33.35 per hour.
• The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
