About The Position

We’re looking for an Equipment Mechanic that will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of light and heavy civil construction equipment. This role supports field operations by ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and uptime across jobsites and facilities. The Equipment Mechanic works independently and collaboratively to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems while supporting preventative maintenance programs and equipment readiness.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years of experience as an equipment mechanic in construction, heavy civil, or industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working on both light equipment and heavy civil machinery.
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Experience performing field service repairs and working independently.
  • Proficiency with maintenance tracking systems or work order documentation preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required; ability to travel to jobsites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair Inspect, diagnose, and repair light and heavy civil construction equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, cranes support equipment, trucks, trailers, and small tools.
  • Perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain repairs in shop and field environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex equipment issues and determine appropriate repair solutions independently.
  • Complete preventative maintenance services in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
  • Document repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities accurately and timely.
  • Fleet Reliability and Field Support Support field operations by responding to equipment issues and minimizing downtime.
  • Coordinate with operations and fleet leadership to prioritize repairs and maintenance needs.
  • Inspect equipment prior to deployment and upon return from jobsites.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend corrective actions or replacement strategies.
  • Safety, Compliance, and Quality Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
  • Follow all safety procedures and support PMEP’s safety first culture.
  • Inspect equipment for safety-related deficiencies and remove unsafe equipment from service when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, DOT, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Collaboration and Continuous Improvement Work collaboratively with fleet management, operations, and vendors to improve maintenance processes.
  • Assist with training or guidance for operators regarding proper equipment use and care.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to fleet efficiency, cost control, and reliability.
