About The Position
This role involves assisting Equipment Mechanics in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction equipment. The helper will work under direct supervision in various weather conditions and perform routine preventive maintenance tasks. Responsibilities include dismantling and reassembling equipment, examining parts for wear, testing repaired equipment, and maintaining accurate maintenance records using electronic devices.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license (may require CDL with Hazmat).
- 6 months of industrial construction experience.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with Equipment Mechanic and others to perform job tasks.
- Work under direct supervision in all weather conditions.
- Assist in the operation and inspection of equipment to diagnose defects and repair all types of construction equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on heavy construction equipment (e.g., lubrication, replacement of brakes, belts, hoses, filters, fluids, and engine tune-up).
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy construction equipment.
- Examine parts for excessive damage or wear.
- Test overhauled equipment to ensure efficient operation.
- Push and/or pull tool boxes to position them while working on equipment.
- Maintain appropriate company records to document equipment maintenance, service, and repair using electronic mobile devices (e.g., work orders completed using iPad).
- Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
- Perform maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment.
- Assist fuel/lube truck mechanics on field assignments.
- Adhere to all safety procedures.
