About The Position

Our Austin Equipment Yard has an outstanding opportunity for an Equipment Manager at our large commercial project located in Phoenix, Arizona. The Equipment Manager supports all equipment project functions with an emphasis on providing cost effective repairs and maintenance to equipment and the design and execution of an equipment purchasing program. This role is supported by and works closely with the main Austin Equipment Yard staff to ensure continuity, operational alignment, and day‑to‑day equipment support. This position reports to the Director of Equipment and is responsible for meeting the equipment needs of the respective projects in a safe and productive manner and in support of the overall company objectives. The Equipment Manager provides technical input on equipment purchase and disposal decisions while staying current on product development and innovations in fleet maintenance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in construction equipment management
  • Proven experience leading equipment service operations, including fleet maintenance, repair programs, and field service support
  • Strong ability to manage asset performance and costs, including maintenance planning, operating expense control, and procurement value optimization
  • Demonstrated capability coordinating service schedules and resolving operational issues in partnership with department managers and field teams
  • Experience driving technology-enabled efficiencies, including telematics, remote diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and work order systems
  • Proven leadership in safety, compliance, and people management, including training, certification, and development of technicians and staff
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors and visitors
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of all local, state and national statutes and guidelines regarding equipment licensing, certifications, permitting and hauling
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time effective manner
  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational training/certification
  • Proficiency in general office software (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.) for reporting and administrative tasks
  • HCSS and Heavy Equipment 360 experience
  • Proven experience managing a service team or repair crew
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Requires working outdoors at times in the rain or snow and during cold, warm, and hot temperatures
  • Must be able to work on call as needed

Responsibilities

  • Manages and directs company equipment service operations
  • Manages the overall equipment maintenance and repair programs
  • Coordinates with department managers in the development and management of the service and repair schedule for all active jobs
  • Plan and adjust staffing schedules to support equipment availability, operations, maintenance, and jobsite requirements
  • Ensures best value is obtained in the procurement activities within the Division.
  • Controls and monitors asset ownership and operating cost on a unit, class and overall fleet basis.
  • Management of the Work Order process including purchase orders, fuel tickets and any other documents required in the service operations
  • Manages key initiatives including the expansion of telematics for remote diagnostics and predictive failure analysis.
  • Identification, development, and implementation of additional technologies to increase efficiencies.
  • Ensures that high standards for quality and customer service are achieved
  • Insure that all operational aspects of the jobs are conducted efficiently and in accordance with the client’s and company’s quality standards
  • Overall safety for everyone working in or visiting Equipment Division location as well as field service operations.
  • Compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Recruitment and development of subordinates including training and certification of technicians
  • Perform other duties as assigned
