About The Position

The Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, optimizing, changing over, troubleshooting, and maintaining assigned departmental production equipment. This role is crucial for meeting production standards, maintaining product quality, minimizing equipment downtime, and sustaining budgeted waste levels. The technician must possess a detailed operational knowledge of the equipment, be able to set up and debug machinery according to specifications, and maintain equipment in working order. This includes making adjustments, troubleshooting, cleaning, and performing necessary repairs. The position also involves maintaining equipment logs, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring all safety guards are functional. The technician will monitor in-process quality, perform QC checks, and adhere to all safety and environmental procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work overtime hours when requested.
  • Must have clear and legible handwriting.
  • Knowledge of basic pneumatics, electrical, electronic, and hydraulics.
  • Knowledge of proper use of tools, proper troubleshooting, and set up procedures.
  • Must be able to work the night shift (8 PM - 8 AM) including a six-week training period on the day shift (8 AM - 8 PM).

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, optimize, changeover, and troubleshoot assigned departmental production equipment.
  • Maintain equipment in working order to produce product within specified quality and quantity limits.
  • Adjust, troubleshoot, clean, and repair equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain equipment logs, recording pertinent information about downtime and maintenance problems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as specified.
  • Start up equipment and ensure proper functioning of machines and control panels.
  • Monitor and replenish component inventories.
  • Ensure all safety guards are in position and functional.
  • Check and clean part tracks to ensure free travel of all component parts.
  • Notify material handler if part supplies run low.
  • Maintain accurate production and downtime records (logbooks).
  • Maintain a neat and orderly production environment.
  • Continually monitor in-process quality, addressing issues as needed to prevent product holds.
  • Perform and document all required Q.C. checks.
  • Run all required process challenges.
  • Observe all safety and environmental procedures and Quality System Requirements (QSR).
