About The Position

Supervise mechanics, service personnel, processes, and procedures to ensure all work orders are completed safely in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company policies. Works directly for the Maintenance Manager to report any concerns and opportunities that arise to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently. Oversees a team of mechanics and service personnel. Delegate work and assignments to team members based on expertise, work experience, and time constraints.

Requirements

  • High mechanical aptitude and experience in repairing harvesting equipment.
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to motivate and train others.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to comprehend and convey mechanical information.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
  • 5+ years of work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • Experience using computers and software, MS Office suite, required.
  • Regular Class “E” Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sugar cane harvesting equipment is highly desired.
  • Bilingual and Biliterate – English and Spanish, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate mechanical team, which may include completing or assisting with repairs if short-staffed.
  • Collaborate with DOT administrator/dispatcher to ensure efficient transportation of equipment.
  • Inspect, plan, and forecast quality and quantity of harvesting equipment for future harvesting.
  • Train, delegate, and ensure employees comply with all safety measures, proper operation of assigned equipment, daily inspections, equipment safety procedures, sanitation of equipment, and reporting repair and maintenance concerns or opportunities to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Follow and motivate employees to understand company procedures and policies.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions, maintenance, and repair of equipment to increase efficiency.
  • Report employee performance to the Fleet Maintenance Manager in an equitable and consistent manner.
  • Assist in recruitment efforts and ensure new employees are processed through Human Resources in accordance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Attend supervisor meetings with the Maintenance Manager weekly to share information regarding equipment, employees, concerns, and opportunities needing attention.
  • Comply with on-call policy as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Perform other related projects and assignments as business dictates.
