About The Position

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity. This position will work side by side with Engineering and Production teams to develop creative solutions and take this program from R&D, though design validation, into production then maintain equipment to support operations. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and you’ll work with leaders in multiple technology areas. You’ll have relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and you’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve your product’s performance, quality and cost. Requirements

  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and maintaining industrial machinery.
  • Hands-on expertise in preventative maintenance and mechanical systems.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering and production.
  • A proactive mindset, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
  • 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, or 2+ years of operations and on-call support for data center facilities, mission critical plants, or production facilities experience
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA
  • Knowledge of PLC based controls systems
  • Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend and reach, all with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Valid Driver’s license and able to satisfy Amazon driver eligibility criteria.
  • With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to lift up to 49 pounds on some occasions, stand/walk for up to 8-10 hours (with breaks), and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.
  • Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • Experience identifying and maintaining robotics system components
  • Experience with preventive maintenance procedures, industrial electrical, industrial controls, and industrial electronics & robotics
  • Knowledge of cryogenic systems including liquid nitrogen (LN2) and gaseous nitrogen (GN2) distribution, handling, and safety protocols

Responsibilities

  • Install industrial equipment and machinery with precision and adherence to specifications.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues during equipment setup and operation.
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance to ensure long-term reliability and performance.
  • Oversee commissioning processes and provide troubleshooting support as needed.
  • Manage and maintain the workshop to ensure it is fully operational and organized.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of custom-built equipment.
  • Work closely with engineers to provide design feedback, assist with project execution, and support commissioning activities.
  • Provide mechanical support to production and development teams as required.
