Equipment Installation Engineer
About The Position
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an Equipment Installation Engineer to join their team. This role involves aspects of construction, contracts, cost estimates, risk and opportunity matrices, equipment design reviews, and process improvements. The engineer will be responsible for the installation of systems used in the processing and storage of nuclear fuel. This includes becoming an expert on system requirements, writing installation tasks, collaborating with technicians, training personnel, troubleshooting issues, assisting operators, and serving as a liaison between various departments and external contractors. Additional opportunities may include planning, designing, modeling, analyzing, documenting, and overseeing the installation of nuclear equipment.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field; or Currently an Advanced Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
- All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
- Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
- All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with current NRF processing equipment, nuclear safety requirements, equipment technical manuals, and deficiency recovery process, i.e. DRs, TR etc is desired.
Responsibilities
- Installation of systems involved in the processing and storage of nuclear fuel.
- Become an expert on system requirements.

- Act as the liaison between Operations, Facilities Engineering, construction contractors, installation contractors etc.
- Planning, designing, modeling, analyzing, documenting, and overseeing the installation of nuclear equipment.
