About The Position

The EPI Equipment Engineering Technician will perform preventive maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and repairs on Zone 3 wafer processing tools. This role involves developing and implementing projects to improve cost, efficiency, safety, and reduce waste, as well as assisting engineers with data collection to resolve equipment issues. The technician will also interface with OEM vendors, participate in data interpretation for continuous improvement, and track work progress. A key responsibility includes being a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and participating in various team meetings.

Requirements

  • Military Electronics certification or AS technical degree.
  • 4+ years’ experience.
  • Standalone technician expert on assigned tools, able to troubleshoot complex issues with little to no guidance.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of how to read electronic schematics, mechanical blueprints, pneumatic diagrams, vacuum diagrams, flow charts, cause effect diagrams, and hydraulic system prints.
  • Understanding of the MOCVD and Implant process.
  • Good understanding of SPC theory and implementation.
  • Fundamental understanding of RF systems, test equipment, and components.
  • Good understanding of vacuum theory, various vacuum pumps (dry pumps, cryo pumps, turbo pumps), various types of vacuum sensors, pressure control devices, and MFCs.
  • Able to set up, operate, and interpret output of test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, RGAs, high voltage probes, pressure and temperature gauges, dial indicators, and RF meters).
  • Ability to learn and adhere to established company and departmental policies.
  • Understand and follow both written procedures and verbal instructions.
  • Self-motivated, able to organize and manage planned and unplanned activities in a timely and professional manner.
  • Able to turn an idea into a prototype by designing a part and have it fabricated at a machine shop.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively utilizing all methods available.
  • Must be able to be a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • Must be able to pass and maintain an ERT clearance through periodic training and physicals.
  • Must be able to work using a respirator, supplied air, or SCBA equipment.
  • Lift 50 pounds or push/pull up to 150 pounds.
  • Stand for up to 10 hours a day.

  • Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently.
  • They will ensure that risk assessments are performed, proper training, work instructions, required PPE is available, and will monitor compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on Zone 3 wafer processing tools.
  • Perform advanced level troubleshooting and repairs on Zone 3 wafer processing tools.
  • Develop and implement projects for area improvement (cost reduction, efficiency, safety, waste reduction, failure prevention).
  • Assist engineers in data collection to resolve and prevent equipment issues and scrap events.
  • Interface with OEM vendors and contractors on repairs, upgrades, or modifications.
  • Participate in data interpretation for continuous improvement and optimization of equipment issues.
  • Track, record, and communicate progress of work.
  • Be a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • Participate in team meetings (pass downs, continuous improvements, engineering reviews, problem resolution).
