About The Position

Vishay UltraSource in Hollis, NH is currently seeking applicants for an Equipment Engineer. The Equipment Engineer is a highly hands-on role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving critical production equipment within a fast-paced, customer-driven thin film job shop environment. This position supports the Sputter Production area and requires a self-directed, experienced engineer capable of independently diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues with minimal supervision. This is not a purely project-based role—the Equipment Engineer is expected to be on the floor, actively supporting production, responding to equipment failures, and executing both immediate repairs and long-term corrective actions. Success in this role requires the ability to quickly assess problems, perform robust repairs, and implement sustainable solutions that improve equipment reliability. A key performance objective is achieving and sustaining a minimum of 95% equipment uptime. The Equipment Engineer plays a critical role in minimizing downtime and ensuring production commitments are met. All work is performed with a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on equipment engineering or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (thin film, semiconductor, vacuum systems, or similar highly preferred).
  • Strong hands-on experience with high-vacuum systems required; experience with sputtering or other PVD equipment strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of vacuum systems, leak detection, pumps, and deposition equipment operation.
  • Proven ability to independently troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated success in high-uptime, production-critical environments where rapid response is required.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills, with a focus on long-term solutions.
  • High level of mechanical aptitude and proficiency with tools, instrumentation, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and take full ownership of assigned equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands.
  • Effective written communication and documentation skills.
  • Willingness and availability to work evenings and/or weekends as business needs require.
  • Must qualify as a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15.
