About The Position

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Equipment Consulting team in Plano, TX or Alpharetta, GA. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven person with a well-rounded skill set to join the Equipment Consulting team, whose responsibilities extend beyond those of traditional engineers. The ideal person for this role will need to not only have a strong grasp of Electrical Engineering but also be flexible and a strategic thinker able to take on a variety of tasks. As a member of the Equipment Consulting team, this individual will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and collaborate with experienced professionals on complex assignments. This role offers exposure to diverse client engagements and the opportunity to apply technical expertise while developing professionally in a dynamic consulting environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering with over 5 years of experience in engineering design, analysis, or applications
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • A desire to learn, excel and grow with us and within the profession.
  • Adaptable to change and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, with regular onsite attendance in the Plano, TX or Alpharetta, GA office as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time for local and out-of-state project assignments, with approximately half of travel occurring as same-day trips.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and inspect all areas of mechanical, electrical and/or IT equipment
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting.
  • Some industrial sites require walking long distances.
  • Must pass a “Fit Test” for respiratory protection.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and evaluate damages to different types of electrical and electronic systems, such as, circuit breakers, transformers, power distribution, switchgear, generators, bus ducts, information technology equipment, electronic systems, and a variety of other electrical/electronic equipment.
  • Conduct configuration audits.
  • Analyze requirements and specifications to determine comparable equipment replacements.
  • Research equipment repair and replacement costs, including both new and used options. Evaluate repairability in comparison with replacement cost to support recommendations.
  • Determine fair market equipment appraisals. Expected to produce 3+ page written reports regularly.
  • Travel to loss site locations to conduct inspections/assessments and meetings with our Clients and the Insured, vendors, and manufacturers' representatives. Depending on workload travel is typically weekly for 2-3 days and out of state. Larger projects could increase travel duration and return visits.
