At this job level, you are expected to lead the development of engineering solutions and deliver early planning with agility and cost competitiveness across Product, Process and Tooling to improve North American manufacturing characteristics. You are expected to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and will oversee and develop other engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g. Mechanical or Industrial) or equivalent related experience.
  • 5+ years of Engineering experience
  • Expert knowledge of Equipment/Tool New Model and expert knowledge of Honda Production facilities preferred.
  • Problem solving analysis and breakdown to root cause.
  • Expert knowledge of Honda New Model development and Manufacturing.
  • Expert of Body in White construction.
  • Go-to person for specified assigned category.
  • Willingness and capability to work on the production floor to understand equipment and Plant perspective

Responsibilities

  • Leads advance Body Frame Weld equipment feasibility study for New Model Body in White construction from styling sketch through 1st drawing issue.
  • Creates strategy and plans for study, specification and equipment concept.
  • Reports New Model equipment content to Project Leadership and Business Unit Managment.
  • Leads Manufacturing Weld New Model equipment verification check list requirements and drawing maturation across North America DEBQ functions.
  • Conceives and leads the development of New Model Weld Equipment specifications and process plan to 1st Plan.
  • Provide direct technical guidance and oversight to downstream customers to ensure successful design and production deliverables are met.
  • Monitors Design Change through drawing maturation.
  • Supports complex manufacturing category problem analysis, determine root causes, recommend corrective action, and set SAP(Specific Action Plan) in the New Model development.
  • Research and influence the future path of development methods and processes.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to less experienced engineers
