About The Position

Kokosing is seeking an Equipment Coordinator to provide support to construction projects within the Kokosing Group resources for equipment, processes, and services. This role involves tracking equipment locations and coordinating its movement between projects to improve utilization and reduce outside rentals. The Equipment Coordinator will also perform other duties as required within the Equipment Department. This position is located in Baltimore, Maryland.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • 5 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Must be knowledgeable with different pieces of heavy equipment and their capabilities
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Must have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize for efficiency.
  • Must be well tempered, outgoing, and possess the willingness to deal with work issues after work hours.
  • Must be customer service oriented, with positive attitude, yet not afraid of confrontation.
  • Be a self-starter willing to take training in order to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Must have competent computer skills, familiar with Microsoft Office Suite of programs and Viewpoint Construction Software applications including Microsoft Outlook.
  • On Occasion must be willing to travel as required in order to perform job duties.
  • Continually work to improve the processes employed to manage equipment, through alternative methods, new technology, others' ideas and suggestions.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the Company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the company safety manual and associate handbook.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the safe operations of the equipment they manage and be willing to communicate that knowledge to others.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize calls, reports, jobsite visits, or other methods from project representatives to process requests for all types of equipment required to build projects.
  • Ensure appropriate equipment is provided to projects for the application.
  • Search for alternative methods to fill needs, such as new technology or suggesting different ways to complete tasks.
  • Work closely with the Trucking Department dispatcher, Maintenance personnel, and project teams to ensure equipment moves are scheduled and completed timely.
  • Attend Weekly Scheduling Meetings and all internal Preconstruction Meetings for projects requiring the equipment managed.
  • Update and maintain Equipment Schedules for all managed projects.
  • Monitor equipment utilization and work to improve it through better communication with the Field and reduction of outside rental equipment.
  • Notify Support Operations Management of expected shortages or excess pieces of managed equipment.
  • Act as a liaison between field supervision and the maintenance division supervision to maintain the equipment.
  • Monitor equipment repair costs for rebuilds and renovations for potential capitalization.
  • Monitor equipment usage weekly by comparing revenue hours to meter hours to ensure equipment is billed correctly when deployed.
  • Work closely with others in the department to fill needs of equipment & materials in the most efficient manner.
  • Monitor the status of equipment pieces (Available, Temporary Available, or Down) to help improve equipment utilization.
  • Maintain accurate locator information for equipment locations and statuses in the computer system.
  • Refer to specific duties per attached Responsibilities List (Attachment A).
  • Supervise and mentor others as assigned.
