About The Position

The Equipment Coordinator provides support to construction projects within the Kokosing Group for equipment, processes, and services. This role involves tracking equipment locations, coordinating its movement between projects to improve utilization and reduce outside rentals, and performing other duties within the Equipment Department. Kokosing is a large general contractor with over 75 years of experience in heavy civil/industrial construction, known for offering challenges, quality, and rewards to its employees.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • At least five years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Must be very knowledgeable with different pieces of heavy equipment and their capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize for efficiency.
  • Must be well-tempered and outgoing.
  • Willingness to deal with work issues after work hours.
  • Customer service oriented with a positive attitude, yet not afraid of confrontation.
  • Self-starter willing to take training to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Competent computer skills, familiar with Microsoft Office Suite of programs and Viewpoint Construction Software applications including Microsoft Outlook.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Knowledgeable about the Company’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable in the safe operations of the equipment they manage, and willing to communicate that knowledge to others.

Responsibilities

  • Process requests for all types of equipment required for projects using calls, reports, jobsite visits, or other methods from project representatives.
  • Ensure appropriate equipment is provided to projects for the specific application.
  • Search for alternative methods to fill equipment needs, such as new technology or suggesting different ways to complete tasks.
  • Work closely with the Trucking Department dispatcher, Maintenance personnel, and project teams to ensure equipment moves are scheduled and completed timely.
  • Attend Weekly Scheduling Meetings and internal Preconstruction Meetings for projects requiring managed equipment.
  • Update and maintain Equipment Schedules for all managed projects.
  • Monitor equipment utilization and work to improve it through better communication with the Field and reduction of outside rental equipment.
  • Notify Support Operations Management of expected shortages or excess pieces of managed equipment.
  • Act as a liaison between field supervision and maintenance division supervision to maintain equipment.
  • Monitor equipment usage weekly by comparing revenue hours to meter hours, utilizing the three-week hour meter report, to ensure correct billing.
  • Work closely with others in the department to fill equipment and material needs efficiently.
  • Monitor the status of equipment pieces (Available, Temporary Available, or Down) to improve equipment utilization.
  • Maintain accurate locator information for equipment locations and statuses in the computer system.
  • Supervise and mentor others as assigned.
  • Continually work to improve the processes employed to manage equipment through alternative methods, new technology, and others' ideas and suggestions.
