About The Position

The Equipment Associate (Matting Solutions) performs labor tasks associated with the team’s service capabilities. Matting Solutions, formerly YAK ACCESS and now part of United Rentals, provides right-of-way access solutions for pipelines, power lines, civil projects, and other work. Its services include access planning, clearing, site work, and restoration. The position is designated Safety Sensitive under United Rentals’ policies and procedures. The role involves frequent use of hand and power tools, physically demanding work, travel out of town during the week or on weekends, and extensive overtime.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and write fluently in English.
Valid driver’s license.
At least 1 year of construction experience and knowledge of safety hazards on construction projects.
Physical stamina, including strength, balance, mobility, dexterity, and ability to lift heavy equipment.
Frequent use of hand tools, including power tools, chop saws, and grinders.
Travel out of town during the week or weekends and work extensive overtime.

Nice To Haves

Skill in reading and interpreting access and construction plans.

Responsibilities

Install erosion and sediment control devices.
Drive wood stakes into the ground using sledgehammers.
Apply grass seed, fertilizer, and lime to work areas; apply straw blankets and straw to restored ground areas.
Clean track equipment and sweep or shovel mud and debris from construction roads and right-of-way accesses.
Install T-posts and safety fencing.
Install geotextile fabric beneath aggregate installations.
Load and unload construction materials and tools.
Spot heavy equipment while it is operating.
