Equine Therapy Livestock Specialist
About The Position
The Equine Therapy Livestock Specialist supports Idaho Youth Ranch’s mission by helping nurture hope, healing, and resilience for young people and their families through horses. The role creates a safe, comfortable space for clients and horses to engage in a therapeutic environment and participates in EAGALA equine therapy and related activities for clients and guests. The specialist maintains familiarity with each horse’s suitability for therapeutic use and documents classes and client activities. This is an on-call position after training and does not have guaranteed hours. Sessions may be scheduled in the late afternoon, evenings, or on weekends depending on client needs and availability. The position is based in Idaho, and candidates must live within a reasonable distance of the location.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- At least three years of experience working with equine or livestock.
- At least 100 hours of continuing education in the equine profession, including at least 40 hours within the last two years.
- Obtain specialized training related to the position when offered, such as CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, and EAGALA.
- Must be within a reasonable distance of the Idaho location.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or Equine Science.
Responsibilities
