About The Position

LIVE. GROW. SHARE. (LGS) is a Peer Delivered Services Organization in Lane County providing mental health, Integrated Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment, Residential Treatment, and unique peer programs. LGS is 100% peer run and is seeking an Equine Manager with lived experience. This role is for a mental health provider with a Peer Support Specialist or Qualified Mental Health Professional certificate (or eligibility) and a background in caring for and training horses. The Equine Manager will assist in program development and implementation for the Equine-Assisted Peer Support Program. The position involves approximately half direct service (providing peer support or skill building while engaging with horses) and half program management and oversight. LGS's mission is to promote whole health, wellness, and recovery by offering a holistic and therapeutic setting led by Peers who have navigated similar journeys. They approach healing from a humanist perspective, honoring the dynamic ways people are shaped by trauma while offering creative solutions for healing and growth. Requirements

  • Peer Support Specialist or Qualified Mental Health Associate - or eligible for certification in one.
  • Experience caring for and training horses, with an emphasis on therapeutic approaches.
  • Lived experience in mental health or addiction.
  • Willingness to share experiences with others for therapeutic purposes.
  • Resume and cover letter.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support and/or skill building to children, adolescents, and adults while engaging with horses.
  • Work with the LGS team and community partners to provide wrap-around care to participants.
  • Assist in program development and implementation.
  • Learn to use systems such as Kipu (Electronic Health Record), Microsoft Outlook, and Teams.
  • Complete progress notes after each session.
  • Manage the barn and care of two horses, including organizing daily care schedules, keeping track of vet/farrier/medications, and maintaining barn cleanliness and stock.
  • Manage the clinical aspect of the Equine-Assisted Peer Support program, including supervising peers providing services with horses, training peers, and managing schedules for peers, horses, and clients.
