The EQT Shock and Vibration Engineer shall join the Gibbs & Cox Survivability Team to directly support an Environment Qualification Test (EQT) Facility located at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in Philadelphia, PA. The applicant must work well in a team environment and be willing to learn new skill sets for performing MIL-DTL-901 shock and MIL-STD-167 vibration testing of Navy equipment. A background in Mechanical Engineering is preferred. Experience with performing qualification testing is not required, as the applicant will be trained in all laboratory duties. The engineer will work directly with the test facility manager to support a backlog of shock and vibration testing that includes managing projects, writing test procedures, configuring test setups conducting shock and vibration tests and documenting results. The test facility will also provide guidance for mechanical test fixture design to support shock and vibration test capabilities. Although the position is dedicated to the NSWCPD contract, the candidate may also support the Survivability Department at Leidos Gibbs & Cox for future ship inspections, technical reviews and EQT related tasking.
