About The Position

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise. This internship is a part of a 10-week full-time summer internship program opportunity. This role will be based at Archer’s headquarters in San Jose, California and relocation or housing will not be provided. Archer is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join Archer. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience within the EPS Manufacturing team. You’ll support the manufacturing team in commissioning and bringing up production equipment for Archer’s Electric Engines and Thrust Assemblies (Electric Propulsion System).

Requirements

  • Sophomore or Junior in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of electric motors and its key components, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience working with mechanical tools, fixtures, and semi-automated production equipment.
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX and AutoCAD for design, drafting, and layout optimization.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T principles and basic knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable steps.
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to excel in a fast-paced and highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the manufacturing team in commissioning and bringing up production equipment for Archer’s Electric Engines and Thrust Assemblies.
  • Design tools, fixtures, and prototype-build hardware using Siemens NX.
  • Optimize 2D production floor layouts and workflow arrangements using AutoCAD.
  • Participate in hands-on assembly activities, including first-article builds and prototype hardware integration.
  • Assist in the setup and validation of tools, equipment, and processes for Electric Engine and Thrust Assembly manufacturing.
  • Create, update, and maintain detailed work instructions for EPS assembly, installation, and related processes.
  • Execute process validation trials and accurately document results to support manufacturing readiness.
  • Improve material flow, tool management, and overall workspace organization to enhance production efficiency.
