About The Position

This internship offers hands-on experience with state-of-the-art semiconductor material deposition using Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE), with a focus on GaN based materials. Interns will utilize various characterization techniques, including atomic force microscopy (AFM), Hall Effect, and Lehighton measurements, to assess the structural and electrical qualities of grown films. Each intern will be assigned a personalized project with the potential to influence business decisions at MACOM, supported by ongoing training and mentorship. The internship experience will conclude with a final poster presentation showcasing project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in electrical engineering, applied physics, materials engineering or mechanical engineering
  • At least in their 3rd year of college study.
  • Must be able to work safely in laboratory settings including semiconductor processing and materials growth areas and clean room facilities.
  • Must be capable of working around toxic and hazardous materials with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Due to ITAR regulations, only candidates who are U.S. Persons (U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, or individuals granted asylum or refugee status) will be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Thin film vapor deposition with a focus on molecular beam epitaxy (MBE)
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of various instruments used for the post-growth analysis of semiconductor materials (Contactless Sheet Resistivity, Hall Effect measurements, AFM)
  • Record, document, and track wafers and perform post-growth analysis.
  • Assist with repairs, maintenance, and general upkeep of the deposition equipment.
