SierTeK Ltd. is seeking an Epidemiologist to support an opportunity at Wright Patterson AFB, OH. Position Overview Section We are seeking an experienced Epidemiologist to support the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM). This position supports critical public health surveillance, force health protection, and operational readiness initiatives by analyzing military health, personnel, and operational data to identify trends, evaluate programs, and inform evidence-based decision-making. The ideal candidate will have expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, and population health analytics, with experience working with large healthcare or military datasets. This role requires strong analytical skills, scientific communication abilities, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams supporting Air Force medical research and operational health programs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (MPH, MS) or PhD in: Epidemiology, Statistics, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Public Health (quantitative emphasis), or a closely related discipline approved by USAFSAM/FES
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in epidemiology, biostatistics, or public health analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and leading analyses of healthcare, surveillance, or operational datasets.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including population health surveillance and data visualization.
  • Experience developing statistical analyses using: SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide
  • Proficiency with: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings through reports, presentations, and scientific publications.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Current or ability to obtain HIPAA training required for access to protected health information.
  • Ability to obtain required permissions for access to military data systems.
  • Signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Board Certification in Public Health (CPH or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting the U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense, or military healthcare organizations.
  • Experience working with military health surveillance, readiness, personnel, or operational data.

Responsibilities

  • Design, conduct, and lead epidemiological analyses using military health surveillance, personnel, deployment, and operational data.
  • Analyze health surveillance and operational datasets to evaluate human performance, readiness, and force health protection programs.
  • Retrieve, integrate, clean, and manage large datasets from multiple military and healthcare data repositories.
  • Perform statistical analyses using SAS and SAS Enterprise Guide.
  • Develop and evaluate epidemiologic and statistical models to identify risk factors and health outcomes affecting Air Force personnel.
  • Validate analytical models and ensure data quality through verification and quality assurance processes.
  • Create and maintain data dictionaries, metadata, and documentation supporting data integration and analysis.
  • Prepare technical reports, scientific manuscripts, white papers, executive summaries, and briefing materials.
  • Present research findings to government leadership, technical working groups, and scientific conferences.
  • Contribute to peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and research posters.
  • Collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, clinicians, data scientists, and military stakeholders.
  • Document analytical methodologies and programming code in accordance with USAFSAM standards.
  • Obtain and maintain required permissions for access to military health and operational databases.
  • Support knowledge transfer through briefings and documentation for government personnel and program stakeholders.
