About The Position

The Epic IT Capability team delivers system build, configuration, and ongoing support for multiple Market Performance Partners (MPPs) within the Optum Insight Information Technology organization. The team is responsible for supporting Epic Patient Access applications, including registration, scheduling, admission, transfer, and discharge, ensuring system functionality aligns with operational, regulatory, and business requirements. As a System Management Analyst on the Patient Access team, this role partners with vendors, technical teams, and operational stakeholders to analyze existing Epic system configurations, gather and document business requirements, and design new or enhance Epic build to optimize, standardize, and automate workflows in support of operational needs. The analyst plays a key role in the implementation, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of Epic solutions for Optum IT capability. Strong expertise in Epic, workflow analysis, and problem-solving is essential to the success of enterprise EHR initiatives. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Requirements

  • Epic Cadence certification, accreditation, or proficiency required. Candidates with lapsed certification must obtain renewal within 45 days of hire.
  • 2+ years of experience with Epic Cadence and Prelude related application system build and configuration, including implementation, ongoing configuration, and optimization.
  • Experience collaborating with external vendors and supporting system upgrades, enhancements, and scheduled downtimes.
  • Experience working effectively with internal and/or external stakeholders and customers.
  • Driver’s License and access to a reliable transportation.

  • Candidates are required to pass a drug test before beginning employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Epic certification, accreditation, or demonstrated proficiency in relevant modules, including Prelude, Welcome, or MyChart.
  • Experience in Welcome or MyChart highly recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Translating clinical and operational requirements into technical specifications and executing system configuration changes to meet defined needs.
  • Designing and implementing technical solutions to support both foundational and custom workflows, while ensuring adherence to established governance processes, approval protocols, and organizational standards.
  • Learning and assessing new and existing workflows to identify technical solutions and optimization opportunities that enhance the end user experience.
  • Observing end users in operational settings, identifying process inefficiencies, redesigning workflows, and collaborating with analysts and stakeholders to improve usability, efficiency, and overall system performance.
  • Providing end user support through effective troubleshooting grounded in a comprehensive understanding of the Epic system and its operational context.
  • Analyzing and diagnosing complex technical issues, communicating solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders, and resolving issues efficiently to minimize disruption to daily workflows and support continuity of patient care.
