About The Position

This position supports healthcare data integration initiatives through the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of interfaces between Epic and other healthcare applications. The role collaborates closely with clinical, operational, technical, and vendor partners to ensure reliable data exchange and workflow optimization. The Epic Interface Engineer II is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and support of interfaces between Epic Systems and other healthcare applications utilizing Epic Bridges and HL7 technologies. This role supports data integration, workflow optimization, system interoperability, and operational continuity across the healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Four years of experience developing interfaces
  • Two years of experience developing interfaces within an Epic environment
  • Two years of experience supporting Epic Bridges
  • Experience with HL7 interface development and healthcare system integrations
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical solutions
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical, operational, and clinical stakeholders
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Six years of experience in interface development and healthcare IT
  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop HL7 real-time interfaces between Epic and other healthcare systems
  • Build, configure, test, and maintain Epic Bridges interfaces
  • Test and validate interface functionality to ensure reliable data exchange
  • Troubleshoot and resolve interface-related issues
  • Monitor interface performance and recommend improvements
  • Gather and document business requirements
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements and identify integration needs
  • Support solution design activities that align technical capabilities with operational requirements
  • Assist with software upgrades, patches, and system enhancements
  • Conduct end-to-end testing of interfaces and integration points
  • Develop and execute test plans
  • Validate interface functionality following upgrades and system changes
  • Provide technical support to end users and operational teams
  • Conduct training sessions related to interface functionality and usage
  • Develop user manuals, technical documentation, and support materials
  • Assist stakeholders with issue resolution and system adoption efforts
  • Manage interface-related projects and assigned deliverables
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Track project progress and communicate status updates
  • Support project planning, implementation, and execution activities
  • Assist with software upgrades and patches
  • Test new functionality and features
  • Liaise with vendors regarding interface-related issues
