About The Position

Indiana University Health is hiring an Epic BI Developer for its IIS team. This full-time role follows a hybrid/onsite schedule, and applicants must live and work in Central Indiana. The developer independently creates and maintains moderately complex reports, dashboards, and data extracts using Epic Clarity and Caboodle, translating business questions and requirements into reliable reporting solutions that support operational, regulatory, and leadership decisions. The role combines SQL, data modeling, query optimization, visualization, stakeholder collaboration, and adherence to data governance and security standards. The developer also supports end users, maintains solution documentation, monitors data quality and performance, and recommends improvements based on feedback. Travel to assigned sites may be required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Services, Business Analytics, a related field, or equivalent years of experience.
3–5 years of relevant experience.
Experience with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts.
Familiarity with Epic BI tools such as Cogito, SlicerDicer, and Caboodle.
Strong understanding of healthcare and lab business processes and technology, including basic knowledge of healthcare and laboratory workflows and terminology.
Ability to travel to assigned sites as required.

Nice To Haves

Certification in one or more Epic modules, such as Cogito, Caboodle Data Model, Clarity Data Model, or Revenue Data Model, is highly desirable.
Familiarity with IT solutions and system interfacing is a plus.

Responsibilities

Independently develop, test, and maintain moderately complex reports and dashboards using Epic Clarity and Caboodle.
Write SQL queries to extract and aggregate data across multiple Epic modules.
Deliver reporting solutions that meet regulatory, operational, and leadership needs with minimal rework.
Design and implement interactive dashboards in Epic Cogito and SlicerDicer, applying visualization best practices.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications and collaborate with stakeholders to clarify needs and recommend reporting approaches.
Ensure solutions meet data governance and security standards.
Create and maintain clear, reusable documentation for assigned solutions.
Optimize SQL queries and reporting structures to improve performance.
Proactively identify data quality or performance risks in owned solutions.
Train end users on reports and self-service tools.
Serve as a point of contact for Epic BI questions within assigned domains and stay current on Epic BI tool enhancements.
Recommend improvements to reports, dashboards, or processes based on user feedback.
Contribute to solution development by identifying issues, proposing approaches, and translating business needs into system solutions, with guidance as needed.
Travel to assigned sites as required.
