About The Position

The Epic Application Analyst (HB/PB) is responsible for the design, build, testing, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic Hospital Billing (HB) or Professional Billing (PB) applications. This role partners closely with Revenue Cycle, Patient Financial Services, Finance, Clinical Operations, and Information Technology teams to ensure efficient workflows, system functionality, and regulatory compliance. The analyst serves as a subject matter expert for Epic billing applications and is responsible for maintaining system integrity, driving process improvements, troubleshooting issues, supporting upgrades, and delivering solutions that improve financial performance and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• 3 years of experience supporting healthcare information systems
• 1 year of experience working with system integrations, interfaces, or technical support processes, required.
• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, healthcare administration, information technology or other related field, required, OR four years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
• Epic certification in one or more technical applications and/or ability to attain Epic certification(s) in assigned module(s) within a defined timeframe determined at time of hire.
• Candidates being considered for this position will be required to complete a Sphinx Assessment, which is used to evaluate job-related competencies and determine overall suitability for the role. Successful completion of the assessment is a required component of the hiring process.
• This position also requires active participation in various phases of the Epic application lifecycle, including but not limited to implementation, go-live support, stabilization, optimization, and system upgrades. Candidates must be willing and able to accommodate the demands associated with these activities
• Working additional hours outside of regularly scheduled business hours, including evenings and weekends, as project needs dictate.
• Participating in on-site go-live and support activities across multiple organizational locations.
• Traveling between organizational facilities to provide operational, project, and end-user support.
• Candidates should be prepared to maintain flexibility in their schedules to support critical project milestones and organizational operational needs.

Nice To Haves

• 1 year of experience with healthcare revenue cycle processes, billing operations, claims management or patient accounting preferred.
• 1 year of experience supporting Epic applications in healthcare, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, and optimize Epic HB or PB modules.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into system design and technical solutions.
• Perform application build, testing, validation, and deployment activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, system defects, and user-reported concerns.
• Collaborate with operational leaders to identify opportunities for workflow improvement and automation.
• Participate in Epic implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and optimization projects.
• Develop project plans, timelines, testing scripts, and documentation.
• Coordinate with Epic representatives, third-party vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Support change management and end-user adoption efforts.
• Support billing, claims management, reimbursement, charge capture, and payment posting workflows.
• Evaluate operational processes and recommend system improvements to enhance revenue cycle performance.
• Assist with revenue integrity initiatives and denial reduction efforts.
• Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve financial outcomes.
• Develop and execute test plans for software releases, upgrades, and new functionality.
• Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations, workflows, and support activities.
• Ensure compliance with organizational standards and Epic best practices.
• Provide ongoing support and consultation to end users.
• Deliver training and educational resources for operational teams.
• Serve as a liaison between business units and IT.
