About The Position

The Epic Application Analyst is responsible for advancing the functionality and operational efficiency of Information Systems utilizing their expertise in Epic Applications. This entails basic to intermediate analysis, design, configuration and implementation. This position is responsible for ensuring integration of technology into effective workflow and process design as well as ensuring operational efficiency of assigned Epic applications and integrated technology. Provides ongoing analysis, consultation, problem-solving, collaboration and application support to users. Also responsible for contributing to related project work and system training. The Epic Application Analyst typically reports to an ISD manager or above. The Epic Application Analyst is responsible for supporting and optimizing Epic applications to enhance clinical workflows and operational efficiency. This role includes analyzing user needs, configuring and maintaining system functionality, managing support tickets, and participating in system upgrades, testing, and implementations. The analyst partners closely with clinical and operational teams, including nursing, mother-baby, and rehab, to troubleshoot issues, improve documentation processes, and ensure effective system use. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment, and a commitment to providing excellent customer support, including participation in a rotating on-call schedule.

Requirements

  • Associates degree, preferred
  • Epic Certification required
  • Two (2) years of equivalent experience in related areas such as healthcare, education, or technology required
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in a large, corporate systems development and implementation activities in a wide variety of Healthcare Management Information Systems (MIS) or similar experience in system analysis, design, building, testing and implementation preferred
  • Industry training and increasingly responsible experience with knowledge and skills in a large, complex corporate Information System
  • Previous Epic or other Health Information Systems experience desired
  • Basic working knowledge of Epic or other Electronic Health Record (EHR) application support, development tools and methodologies
  • Good analytical skills and technical aptitude
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Good communication, collaboration and customer service skills
  • Ability to support rotating 24/7 on-call coverage

Responsibilities

  • Performing basic to intermediate analysis, design, configuration, and implementation of Epic Applications.

  • Translating customer requests into Epic and other software application solution specifications.
  • Using PC system development tools to develop and deploy queries, simple applications, moderately complex reports and other business solutions in Epic and related systems.
  • Maintaining detailed technical knowledge of assigned applications.
  • Assisting customers with optimizing their use of Epic applications.
  • Participating in after-hours application support via rotating on-call schedule.
  • Setting priorities with moderate supervision, understanding Epic and other integrated applications, answering technical questions and performing all assigned tasks.
  • Identifying issues and concerns and communicating them to Team Lead and/or Manager as appropriate.
  • Developing options and recommendations for issues.
  • Providing training, support, and problem resolution to customers.
  • Demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Ensuring safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
