About The Position

An EPA Certified Refrigerant Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient recovery and reclamation of refrigerants from HVAC systems. They play a crucial role in environmental sustainability by ensuring the proper handling, recycling, and disposal of HVAC components, in compliance with industry regulations.

Requirements

  • Able to operate pump down equipment for refrigerant recovery.
  • Willing and able to train Teardown I and II technicians in reclaim process.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work with dust/oil.
  • Able to use hand and power tools, including metal cutting saws.
  • Works with a positive attitude and is a team player.
  • Ability to lift and move moderate to heavy objects.
  • Has an attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Able to handle and sort different materials.
  • Understand basic computer operations including handling emails.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Type III EPA Freon Recovery Certification.
  • Previous reclaim experience.
  • Strong knowledge of safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigerants, and their environmental impact.
  • Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established procedures and guidelines to ensure efficient, thorough, and safe recovery; log and label recovered refrigerants
  • Generate reports on the types and quantities of refrigerants reclaimed.
  • Decommission and dismantle HVAC systems, ensuring the safe removal of refrigerants.
  • Perform tests on recovered refrigerants to meet industry standards.
  • Handle and sort materials through the reclaim process.
  • Identify and address any potential issues with the equipment during the recovery process.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards in all reclaim activities.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE.
  • Train and mentor Teardown 1 and 2 technicians on proper methods and safety standard.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve teardown process issues and assist in improving workflow efficiency.
  • Identify and categorize high-value components (e.g. compressors, motors).
  • Operate forklifts and other equipment as needed (with proper certification).
