This full-time day shift position involves acting as a problem solver for patient and family issues related to cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs). The role requires anticipating the need for wearable defibrillators and potential symptomatic consequences of CIED evaluations and programming. The nurse will communicate with industry representatives regarding CIED function, safety, and battery longevity, as well as with patients and families about CIED therapies, including end-of-life matters. Responsibilities include facilitating home wellbeing checks, maintaining practice standards for Quality Improvement and OSHA, and operating required vehicles safely. The nurse will perform general and cardiac nursing care, administer medications and treatments, and conduct in-person interrogations and reprogramming of pacemakers, ICDs, and Implantable Loop Recorders (ILRs). This role also involves assisting the Electrophysiology (EP) provider, providing guidance on peri-procedural device management, and educating patients and families. The nurse will review patient records, dictate history and physicals, report test results and patient symptoms, and review CIED remote transmissions. Additionally, the nurse will triage phone calls, carry out verbal and written orders, and serve as a clinical resource for Arrhythmia services Technicians. The position also includes monitoring crash cart supplies and participating in professional development.
