Wieland is hiring an Environmental/Wastewater Technician . The Environmental/Wastewater Technician will be responsible for Conducting tests and field investigations to obtain data for use by environmental, engineering, and scientific personnel in determining sources and methods of controlling pollutants in air, water, and soil. Assists the Environmental Supervisor with government inspections and implementation of corrective action for environmental related issues. Operate and maintain Wastewater Treatment Plants, Biological, Physical Chemical, and Copper Removal System. This role is immediately available in Pine Hall - North Carolina and will be fully on-site. Starting Pay: $22 an Hour Schedule: 5am to 330pm M-F Pay Schedule: Bi-Weekly

Requirements

  • 24-hour Hazmat Technician Training
  • Department of Transportation & Hazardous Materials Compliance Training
  • Operate a backhoe, forklift and other heavy equipment as needed.
  • Knowledge of Wastewater and Water Treatment Processes
  • Mathematical Skills to perform complex Wastewater and Water Calculations.
  • 2+ – Years Experience
  • Must be able to perform firm grasping, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, standing, crouching, sitting, negotiating stairs, ladders, and slippery surfaces in a hot/cold (summer/winter) environment, regularly lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Work safely with, around, and wearing protection for cleaning chemicals, solvents, copper fumes, inks and lubricants.

Nice To Haves

  • State Certifications for Wastewater and Water not required but recommended.
  • Grade II Wastewater Operator Certification Class C
  • Well Operator Certification Class C
  • Water Distribution Operator Certification

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain all wastewater systems and evaporation equipment onsite.
  • Collect water samples from streams, raw processed water, industrial wastewater, or water from other sources.
  • Set up Monitoring equipment to provide analytical information.
  • Handling and disposal Used Oil in totes and drums.
  • Handling and disposal of Hazardous Waste.
