The Environmental Validation Engineer is responsible for product validation from the RFQ phase through final customer acceptance. The role defines and manages validation plans, schedules, laboratory resources, budgets, test equipment, and customer and project-team communications. It also supports design improvements, manages test configurations and logistics, leads validation FMEA activities, and contributes to design reviews and problem resolution. The engineer oversees test setup, test-script development, and execution with support from laboratory operations and methods-and-tools teams. Testing uses equipment and environments such as thermal chambers and IPx equipment, with National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand used for test scripting. The role also reports validation status and results, manages DUT failure reviews, supports failure analysis, and improves laboratory processes and test efficiency. Work must follow the Quality Management System and applicable validation processes, including ASPICE and ISO/TS 16949. Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering field, such as computer science, computer engineering, electronic engineering, mechatronics, electronics, or mechanical engineering.
At least 3 years of test engineering experience.
Proficiency in National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand; both are mandatory.
Programming experience with languages such as Java and Python.
Computer literacy with the MS Office suite (ECDL).
Experience programming with National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand software; certified LabVIEW experience is specified.
Experience developing instrumentation interfaces over PXI, PCI, USB, RS232, and GPIB.
Broad experience with hardware and peripherals.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and schematics.
Knowledge of automotive electronic systems.
Validation experience and knowledge of test and validation methods.
Knowledge of accelerated life testing.
Knowledge or experience with software applications and embedded C, C++, and Java.
Ability to work within a multinational team environment.

Responsibilities

Review and analyze test service requests.
Analyze customer specifications with project and quality team members, challenge requested tests, and define the final validation plan and offer.
Identify specific tools, benches, and associated budgets needed for validation.
Write detailed validation plans and test specifications covering customer validation and client requirements.
Schedule validation activities and manage testing with laboratory resources.
Serve as the main relationship contact for customers and project teams on environmental validation methods and results across internal and external test locations.
Work with project teams to correct designs and meet product performance requirements.
Manage configuration and logistics of tested parts.
Lead validation FMEA generation for assigned projects.
Participate in design reviews for software, hardware, and products, as well as problem resolution and FMEA analysis.
Plan laboratory activities and allocate technicians, tools, and benches.
Specify and follow up on validation tools needed at internal or external locations.
Manage validation activity costs.
Use bench equipment to become familiar with system operation, the delivered product, and customer problems.
Carry out work in compliance with the Quality Management System and validation processes, including ASPICE and ISO/TS 16949.
Work with the Methods & Tools team to develop test-environment solutions for design and process validation (DV/PV).
Govern test setup and verification of test platforms, with technical support from lab operations.
Govern test setup and test-script development using NI LabVIEW and TestStand, with support from Methods & Tools and lab operations.
Govern test execution according to specifications using laboratory equipment, including thermal chambers and IPx equipment.
Promote a safety focus and maintain high quality standards.
Report validation status regularly to project teams and management.
Generate test reports, peer-review data, and follow up on approvals.
Create daily and weekly activity reports using available dashboards.
Manage problems by interfacing with customers, assigning DUT failures to appropriate functions, and leading weekly reviews.
Participate in lessons learned across projects.
Improve laboratory tools, instructions, and test-environment processes, including automation.
Minimize test cycle times and provide work instructions to test houses to facilitate efficient transfer of test equipment.
Support project teams with failure-mode analysis and implement robust, efficient automated test benches.
