This position supports efforts to protect public health and the environment by helping enforce the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act. It combines hands-on fieldwork, technical review and community interaction to support clean water goals.

Requirements

  • Four years of technical experience in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • Possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze sewage planning modules, policies, and regulations to determine compliance and recommend actions
  • Visit sites to evaluate on lot and discharge systems and gather field information
  • Examine work performed by sewage enforcement officers and provide feedback on performance
  • Create technical summaries and documentation that support program decisions
  • Interact with officials and residents to explain program requirements and address concerns
