About The Position

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices. This role supports the execution of environmental testing activities including thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, and acoustic testing. The Technician I is expected to have foundational hands-on experience and the ability to execute standard tests with guidance, while continuing to build technical depth and troubleshooting capability. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product integrity, safety, and compliance with aerospace and regulatory standards. This position is based in our satellite production facility in Midland, TX, with full relocation provided.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of relevant hands-on technical experience
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to perform repetitive and precision tasks.
  • Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as required to perform job duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing.
  • Ability to work in, on, around, and in proximity to large structures, equipment, and tooling.
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or carry items up to 35 pounds as required.
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
  • Ability to work in and around tight or confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in environments that may include exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and/or hazardous materials (e.g., carbon fiber).

Responsibilities

  • Perform environmental testing including thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, acoustic, and related tests with guidance as needed
  • Set up and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems following established procedures
  • Execute test plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs) with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Assist with test configuration, fixturing, and instrumentation installation
  • Monitor tests and accurately record data; identify and report anomalies or deviations
  • Troubleshoot routine test issues and escalate more complex problems as needed
  • Document test results, observations, and non-conformances in accordance with quality standards
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements
  • Support equipment upkeep, basic maintenance, and calibration activities
  • Collaborate with technicians and engineers to support successful test execution
  • Maintain organized work areas and test documentation
