About The Position

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking an Environmental Test Dynamics Engineer – Level 1 or Level 2 to join our team in Dulles, VA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Dulles, VA specializes in Integration, Test and Launch of the Space Systems for commercial and US Government. Seeking an Engineer in support of a large Environmental Test facility in the Space Industry. Will work with and direct highly talented and motivated Technician staff. Will support other engineers in the planning, design and implementation and testing of complex test setups in the areas of Vibration, Thermal Vacuum, Static measurements and mass properties among other areas. Position is for an Engineer seeking the ability to work hands on with complicated testing equipment in an environment that is dynamic and rewarding. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 0 years of professional experience (for Level 1) or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 0 years of professional experience (for Level 2).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top-Secret security clearance
  • Ability to support occasional shifts and weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Bachelor degree types – Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineer with some Mechanical Background.
  • Knowledge of general Environmental Testing in a Space or Defense manufacturing environment.
  • TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Hands on experience in setup and running vibration equipment.
  • Hands on experience with Thermal Vacuum testing and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Vibration theories and equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and Windows file structure.
  • Knowledge in basic electrical circuits AC/DC

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implementing new or improved tools and processes to increase team efficiency
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for testing.
  • Ability to lead a team and/or provide leadership to drive solutions of complex problems.
  • Interface with multiple groups for test planning.
  • Support on floor Lab activities and testing.
  • Support test readiness reviews
  • Perform mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting on all equipment.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and urgent maintenance needs in a timely manner.
