About The Position

As an Environmental Technician at LJA Public Works , you will work with an experienced team of environmental consultants in LJA’s Stormwater Division on projects for assisting municipalities and industrial facilities in complying with state/federal water quality regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Associate Degree in Environmental Studies
  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Biology, or similar field preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational skills; attention to detail in recording field data
  • Must have a clear driving record, a DMV check will be conducted
  • Ability to represent LJA and its clients in a professional manner at all times
  • Basic computer skills; must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with environmental regulatory compliance and/or field inspections preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to drive long distances, to and from job sites within Texas and Louisiana. Locations may include, but are not limited to: Houston, Austin, Freeport, Conroe, and Beaumont.
  • Inspection sites will have uneven ground and will require walking/standing for long periods of time; possible climbing.
  • Work in inclement weather (hot/cold/rain)
  • Work non-standard hours/days, including some weekend or holiday work on occasion

Responsibilities

  • Conduct construction site inspections to identify stormwater quality issues
  • Conduct municipal facility inspections to identify stormwater quality issues
  • Conduct outfall monitoring to identify illicit discharges
  • Data entry associated with field inspections
  • Assist in the development of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWP3s)
  • Conduct representative monitoring events
  • Communicate through verbal and written means as required for job performance
  • Provide status reports to project manager on routine basis
  • Other assigned duties as required
