Environmental Technician - Public Works

About The Position

As an Environmental Technician at LJA Public Works , you will work with an experienced team of environmental consultants in LJA’s Stormwater Division on projects for assisting municipalities and industrial facilities in complying with state/federal water quality regulations.

Requirements

Minimum of Associate Degree in Environmental Studies
Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Biology, or similar field preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Organizational skills; attention to detail in recording field data
Must have a clear driving record, a DMV check will be conducted
Ability to represent LJA and its clients in a professional manner at all times
Basic computer skills; must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience with environmental regulatory compliance and/or field inspections preferred

Nice To Haves

Ability to drive long distances, to and from job sites within Texas and Louisiana. Locations may include, but are not limited to: Houston, Austin, Freeport, Conroe, and Beaumont.
Inspection sites will have uneven ground and will require walking/standing for long periods of time; possible climbing.
Work in inclement weather (hot/cold/rain)
Work non-standard hours/days, including some weekend or holiday work on occasion

Responsibilities

Conduct construction site inspections to identify stormwater quality issues
Conduct municipal facility inspections to identify stormwater quality issues
Conduct outfall monitoring to identify illicit discharges
Data entry associated with field inspections
Assist in the development of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWP3s)
Conduct representative monitoring events
Communicate through verbal and written means as required for job performance
Provide status reports to project manager on routine basis
Other assigned duties as required
