About The Position

The primary focus of incumbents in this role is to provide support to the Water Resources Management Department with regard to environmental concerns for the City’s water operations. Under general supervision, the Environmental Technician performs a variety of technical duties involving collecting water and wastewater samples throughout the City’s distribution, groundwater monitoring wells and wastewater systems for compliance purposes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • One year of water utilities and/or laboratory-related experience or one year of college related laboratory classwork
  • Valid Arizona Driver License at time of hire and ability to maintain it
  • Ability to obtain a certification in one of the following disciplines in the first year of employment: Backflow tester, stormwater sampling certification or any of the four water/wastewater/distribution or collections AZDEQ operator certification.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting water and wastewater samples throughout the City’s distribution, groundwater monitoring wells and wastewater systems for compliance purposes.
