Environmental Technician - CL-3
About The Position
The Environmental Technician is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of landfill gas extraction systems, leachate collection systems, and other related systems at Republic Services’ landfills. The role monitors these systems and ensures work adheres to safety regulations and applicable federal and state requirements. The position also conducts or assists with environmental sampling, performs landfill surveying activities as needed, and prepares required reporting data. Employees must perform their responsibilities safely and efficiently and may be assigned other job-related duties.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience working at a site regulated by OSHA.
- Good time-management skills to complete assigned responsibilities efficiently and safely.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to communicate operating issues effectively to management.
- Good follow-through; adherence to the work schedule and persistence in addressing challenges.
- Ability to adhere to company policies and rules, promote company safety standards, and work with honesty and trustworthiness.

Responsibilities
- Conduct or assist with environmental sampling, which may include groundwater, surface water, air quality, and gas migration.
- Measure and record gas levels in landfill well fields and at probes along landfill boundaries to support compliance with safety regulations and federal and state requirements.
- Troubleshoot and correct landfill gas extraction systems; report more complicated issues to management for timely correction.
- Manage and troubleshoot the leachate system to ensure it operates in accordance with safety standards and federal and state regulations.
- Perform landfill surveying activities as required.
- Prepare and submit required reporting data related to landfill gas extraction, leachate, and other related systems.
- Perform responsibilities safely and efficiently while adhering to applicable safety regulations and federal and state requirements.
- Perform other job-related duties as required.
