About The Position

Under the direction and supervision of the Environmental Manager, responsible for providing support in a variety of tasks throughout the everyday operations of the Company that affect environmental compliance. Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described. Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends and holidays. Comply with company, Federal, State, and local safety, and ethical rules, regulations and policies while performing duties. Assist co-workers in providing support to production to ensure that the Company is following Federal, State, and local environmental permits, laws and regulatory requirements. May assist co-workers in maintaining inventory and storage of hazardous materials in accordance with Company policies, Federal, State, and local regulations. Completely required paperwork properly and in a timely manner. Work with minimal supervision and carry out duties as instructed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One-year environmental work experience desired.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of ship terminology and environmental regulations desired.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written, or diagram forms or plans.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of safe operation and use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to learn and retain knowledge.
  • Integrity, ethics, flexibility/adaptability, initiative, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, safety conscious, and multi-tasking.
  • Maintain the confidential integrity of details pertaining to Eastern Shipbuilding Group.
  • The employee must be physically and medically qualified to wear all required personal protective equipment, as prescribed under Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
