  • Responds to common inquiries or complaints from customers, using appropriate designated engagement techniques.
  • Accesses and uses all department related technology systems, such as but not limited to, the Bed Management systems, while demonstrating good working knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, clean, healing environment.
  • Ensuring daily room cleaning and timely room turnaround times related to patient throughput within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention.
  • Cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms and ancillary areas, including bathrooms, public areas, corridors, medication storage rooms, and any other areas requiring attention using designated and appropriate chemicals and cleaning procedures.
  • Replenishing supplies, removing bio-medical waste, trash, and soiled linen, and changing cubicle/window curtains as needed.
  • Completing patient room and bathroom cleaning daily to accommodate discharges/admissions and overall cleanliness standards, utilizing approved procedures and Bed Management systems where applicable.
  • Performing duties while demonstrating working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products.
  • Adhering to all organization safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines and standards.
  • Operating UV disinfection machine as needed.
  • Participating in departmental performance improvement initiatives to improve customer experience and cleanliness metrics.
  • Following all infection prevention practices including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Recognizing and adhering to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
  • Reporting unsafe situations and turning in Engineering Service Requests for repair.
  • Communicating, reading, and writing in standard English.
  • Maintaining reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintaining compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
