Requirements

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
  • Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
  • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment using mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going drug and alcohol testing, as allowed by applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine quantitative and qualitative observations and sampling of air, soil, water, recyclable materials, and solid and hazardous wastes, or other environmental requirements at the assigned site.
  • Conduct sampling and monitor site conditions for compliance with environmental and other requirements and take appropriate action to ensure continued compliance.
  • Monitor solid waste such as drums, hazardous materials collection sites, and reclamation sites for compliance with requirements.
  • Assist in the installation and setup of instruments and equipment, coordinate the timely recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets in compliance with applicable legal and other requirements and track and report the recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets as directed.
  • Operate and monitor basic electronic equipment and perform simple preventive maintenance.
  • Develop a basic knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures and assist or provide training on environmental issues.
  • Participate in regular audits and inspections of operational areas to ensure compliance with site environmental policies, procedures, and Environmental Management System requirements.
