About The Position

Our US East Environmental business is looking for a Technical Director to join the team and make a lasting impact on GHD’s success in the environmental market. You’ll champion safe and consistent project delivery, cultivate a strong pipeline of opportunities, mentor and inspire top talent, and help shape the future of our business through innovation, collaboration, and outstanding client outcomes. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology or other science related field of study
  • At least 20 years of experience in environmental consulting
  • Experience in coordinating and simultaneously managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel for client meetings is required

Nice To Haves

  • Project experience in the Energy sector preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage key client and customer relationships. Likely to involve using account teams to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of the operational information gathered through interviews and research to diagnose underlying client issues and problems and to inform the design of multiple solutions.
  • Direct the environmental risk management implementation within a function, aligning risk activities with environmental regulations, and the organization's sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure that business activities and individuals (e.g., employees, contractors, and visitors) within the area of responsibility adhere to the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions, to safeguard the environment, protect the well-being of individuals, and minimize business risk.
  • Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, policy, regulation, or operational management for the team and beyond in the function. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging technologies, external regulation, and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Manage a portfolio of major projects in line with overall project management strategy.
  • Gather information and resources and draft and complete proposals in response to the most-complex bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender to create the best chance of being awarded the contract. May lead a team to develop tenders/proposals and fulfill all process requirements (in terms of deadlines, documentation, etc.) in response to bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender.
  • Develop innovative solutions by integrating and analyzing complex and diverse information sources.
