About The Position

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for an Environmental Systems Regional Supervisor in the Northern Region of Maryland, which includes Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, Cecil, and Montgomery counties. This position is responsible for the overall management of water, wastewater, and industrial wastewater treatment systems. Responsibilities include overseeing all operations and maintenance activities, as well as the administration and supervision of regional personnel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or state high school equivalency certificate.
  • Satisfactory completion of four California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) courses approved by the Manager of Water/Wastewater Operations (MES will allow 18 months for completion).
  • Completion of the “Manage for Success” or equivalent CSUS management course approved by the MES Training Office.
  • 1 year as an Environmental Systems Assistant Regional Supervisor with the Maryland Environmental Service.
  • OR 8 years of progressively responsible experience as an operator of water, wastewater or industrial wastewater treatment systems, including at least 3 years supervising subordinate plant personnel.
  • Valid driver's license with less than 5 points.
  • Valid operator’s certificate considered appropriate by the Maryland State Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators for Wastewater Class 5 or Water Class 4.
  • Passing score on an operator certification examination accepted by the Board for Wastewater Class 5.
  • Passing score on an operator certification examination accepted by the Board for Water Class 4.
  • Passing score on a third operator certification examination accepted by the Maryland State Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators for operator certification in Maryland (must be passed within 24 months of beginning employment in the MES water/wastewater environmental systems operator job series).
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
