About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician keeps patient rooms and other hospital areas clean and sanitized to help protect patients, visitors, and staff from illness, injury, and hazards. The role performs routine cleaning, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting, and uses specialized equipment and techniques to disinfect the facility. It also includes handling biohazard materials, replenishing supplies, and delivering clean linens. The technician contributes to patient safety and comfort through thorough, safety-focused work and collaboration with the patient care team.

Nice To Haves

• Previous healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned daily occupied-room and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection in patient care areas, on equipment, and in common areas.
• Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment according to Standard Work cart setup.
• Remove and transport waste to appropriate disposal areas, identifying and following the correct handling procedures for regulated medical, recyclable, solid, and hazardous waste.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting, and use specialized equipment and techniques to sanitize the facility.
• Follow proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids and sharp objects.
• Refill soap and paper towel dispensers and other supplies, and deliver clean linens as needed.
• Recognize and adhere to patient privacy requirements, including HIPAA.
• Operate and properly maintain EVS tools and equipment used to clean and disinfect the environment.
• Collaborate with others as part of the patient care team.
