About The Position

This position performs routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis as part of a department, responsible for providing linen services to the Medical Center and its related rental properties, all to comply with standards of linen services and sanitation for Accreditation and Licensure requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Perform tasks in accordance with written and oral instructions.
  • Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done annually.
  • Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
  • Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
  • Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
  • Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.
  • May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
  • Some exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.
  • Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
  • Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.
  • May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
  • Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs.
  • Frequently (34-66% of the workday) lift or carry 20 lbs.
  • Constantly (67-100% of the workday) lift or carry 10 lbs.
  • Ability to Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned tasks in accordance with written procedures, guidelines, checklists, and verbal requests and instructions.
  • Performs routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis to provide linen services to the Medical Center and its related rental properties.
  • Clean walls, floors, ceilings, windows, furniture of all kinds in the clean linen room as well as clean linen carts.
  • Pick up soiled linen using standard precautions.
  • Sort, stack, and deliver clean linen to nursing units using standard par levels.
  • Informs supervisor of new linen needs.
  • Performs other related miscellaneous duties as assigned.
