About The Position

Singleton Schreiber, LLP is seeking a mid- to senior-level Environmental Scientist to support the firm’s environmental litigation and advocacy efforts through rigorous data collection, analysis, and technical communication. This role focuses on compiling and quality-checking air, soil, and water datasets; supporting air and groundwater modeling efforts; performing pollutant and human health literature reviews; evaluating applicable regulations and permitting requirements; and preparing clear, defensible technical summaries and reports in collaboration with attorneys and the science team. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and advanced proficiency with tools such as Excel and ArcGIS, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a hybrid environment. This is a hybrid role open to candidates in Colorado’s Front Range area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Biology, Chemistry, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geology or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in the environmental science field, preferably with exposure to legal or regulatory environments.
  • Proficient in ArcGIS and other mapping software.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, ArcGIS, and able to learn new computer software systems as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate scientific concepts for legal professionals and clients.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-directed leader with the ability to build relationships through high levels of professionalism, confidentiality, judgment, and discretion in line with the firm’s client service standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using R, Python and data analysis tools would be ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and scientific literature relevant to cases and potential cases.
  • Collaborate with members of the science team and attorneys to interpret scientific data, assess risks, and develop strategies for casework and advocacy.
  • Gathering and analyzing air, soil, and water data sets and samples to determine the level and source of environmental contamination.
  • Conduct advanced scientific research and analysis related to environmental issues, including pollution, hazardous materials, and ecosystem impacts.
  • Prepare technical reports and expert opinions for use in legal proceedings, regulatory submissions, and client advisories.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including government agencies, clients, and community groups, to communicate scientific information and support firm initiatives.
  • Research potential pollution sources and affected populations, assist with air and groundwater efforts.
  • Utilize USGS, EPA, state environmental agencies, and other data sources to compile environmental data sets.
  • Perform literature review on specific pollutants and human health issues.
